IP Commercialization & Technology Transfer Workshops

Patent Information Cell , PSCST in association with Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM), Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Govt. of India organized Series of One Day regional “IPR Commercialization & Technology Transfer” workshops at Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar; Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar and Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pataila. The Workshops aimed to encourage innovators, researchers, and start-ups to explore converting their innovative ideas and interventions for creating enterprise and promote entrepreneurship. The experts included Dr. S.K. Das, Director, IIT-Ropar; Dr. Kavita Singh, Mission Director, National Biopharma Mission, BIRAC, DBT-GOI; Dr. V.K. Awasthi, Director, NIT, Jalandhar; Mr Shubam Istrewal, Asst Manager, DPIIT; Dr. Balwinder Sooch, Registered Patent Agent, Punjabi University, Patiala; Dr. Sukhjinder Singh, Senior Scientist, CSIR-IHBT Palampur; Ms. Neeta Rai, School of International Biodesign, New Delhi; Mr. Vinay Mehta, Head, Research and Innovation, Chitkara University, Rajpura ; Dr. Manish Kashyap, Scientist, Technology Cell, NIPER; Dr. Suchita Markan, DGM, Biotech Consortium India Ltd.; Dr Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director, PSCST. The workshops covered various issues on patent filing, IP valuation, IP commercialization, techno-economical viability, tech transfer agreement, tech licensing, Govt. support schemes for IP filing. About 350 faculty members, innovators, researchers & students participated.

Regional Conference on Environment

Regional Conference on Environment on No Time Left Act Now was organized by PSCST in collaboration with Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Punjab on 14.12.2019. The first-of-its-kind Conference organized at the behest of National Green Tribunal (NGT) was inaugurated by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Chairperson, NGT. The Conference witnessed leadership talks from Judiciary, State Governments, Stakeholder Departments, Research Institutions, Industries and Non-Government Organizations from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and UT Chandigarh. The dignitaries comprised of Justice Jasbir Singh; Justice Pritam Pal; Sh. Karan Avtar Singh, Chief Secretary, Punjab; Smt. Keshni Anand Arora, Chief Secretary, Haryana; Sh. S.K Aggarwal, Former Chief Secretary, Punjab; Sh. Anup Chander Pandey, former Chief Secretary, UP; Smt. Shailaja Chandra, Former Chief Secretary Govt. of Delhi and Smt. Urvashi Gulati, Former Chief Secretary, Haryana. Various issues pertaining to Environment Protection and Management, State Action Plans and role of Research Innovation & Technology to address environmental challenges were highlighted.

Punjab Innovation and Technology Summit 2019

Punjab Innovation and Technology Summit 2019 was organized by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology in collaboration with Punjab Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 5th November, 2019. The Summit organized with the objective to promote Punjab as a Global Hub for Research & Innovation was inaugurated by Honble Finance Minister, Punjab. More than 50 eminent speakers, thought leaders and thinkers representing Academia and Research, Industries and Businesses, High technology ventures, Governments, Funding agencies across the globe participated to explore opportunities and challenges presented by technological transformations and Research & Innovation framework needed for global scale-up. Dr. Ron Malka, Ambassador of Israel to India; Dr. M.P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE; Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, MHRD, GOI; Dr. Girish Sahni, Former Director General, CSIR; Prof. Youngjin Yoo, Design & Innovation, Case Western Reserve University, USA; Ms Ratika Jain, CEO, Global Innovation & Technology Alliance; Prof.Henry H. Chen, Director, S&T Division, Embassy of Taiwan; Dr. Anil Wali, IIT-Delhi; Mr. Karan Bajwa, MD, IBM India Ltd. and Mr. S. Balasubramanian, Managing Director, Accenture were some of the eminent speakers of the Summit. The technical sessions comprising of Boosting Research & its Commercialization ,Exploring Global opportunities for collaboration and Convergence, Disruptive Technologies- New Paradigm of Development , Social Innovations and Enterprises Funding Opportunities and Young Innovators & Start-ups™ were attended by more than 500 academician, research scholars & Industrial representatives. The summit also witnessed 40 exhibits of technological innovations from institutions and start-ups alongwith Start-up Competition Award. The State Government signed 18 MoUs to promote Research & Innovation in the state.

Nobel Prize Series Event -2019

PSCST organized prestigious Nobel Prize Series Event in collaboration with Nobel Media, Sweden; DBT-GOI and NABI. Besides interactive sessions, the event featured world premier of the world class travelling exhibition For the Greatest Benefit to Humankind put up by Nobel Media showcasing the works of Nobel Laureates and their application for societal benefits. Dr. Serge Haroche (Nobel Prize in Physics 2012), Dr. Kailash Satyarthi (Nobel Peace Prize 2014) and Dr. Juleen Zierath (Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Nobel Assembly) participated in the event. The event attracted >10000 participants from Punjab and neighbouring States.

Children Science Congress

PSCST is the nodal agency for organizing Children Science Congress (CSC) in Punjab. CSC-2019 was initiated with organization of two cluster level orientation workshops at Mohali on 2-3 Aug, 2019 attended by 100 teachers and District Science Supervisors from Punjab. The District level and State level CSCs were organized in all districts during Aug-Nov, 2019 and Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala from 4-6 December 2019 respectively. 133 projects from 265 students and 145 teachers were presented. I6 projects selected from the state participated at the National Level CSC held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from 22nd December, 2019. Two projects from the State were placed amongst the best 20 projects at the National level.
