Reclamation of Wasteland Through Citrus Plantation at Akhegwo Village, Phek was organized on 11th and 12th June 2021. The objective of the program was to spread awareness on climate change and the reclamation of wasteland. A total of 30 participants were sensitized to climate change and wasteland reclamation. Hands-on training and demonstration on the citrus plantation were carried out prior to the distribution of 150 citrus saplings for the plantation.

World Environment Day, 2021 video challenge

On World Environment Day, 5th June 2021, a video challenge on social media platforms was initiated under the theme “Ecosystem Restoration”. The participants uploaded videos of their tree plantation drive on Instagram and nominated/tagged 5 Instagram users to continue the chain of their ecosystem restoration activities. The objective of the video challenge is to highlight the importance of ecosystems, their provisioning services and ecosystem restoration by tree plantation.

Intellectual Property Rights and its components, Copyrights and Trademarks and Geographical Indication and its opportunities

PIC conducted one day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights” in collaboration with Kohima College on 17th April 2021 at the Conference room, Kohima College. Around 80 faculties participated in the workshop. The technical session covers the topic on “Intellectual Property Rights and its components”, “Copyrights and Trademarks” and “Geographical Indication and its opportunities” by the resource persons, Dr.Nesatalu Hiese, Scientist ‘D’, NASTEC, Mr. Kekuniel Ltu, Scientist ‘B’, NASTEC and Ms.Gihukali Chishi, Technical Asst. NASTEC.

Nagaland State Painting Competition on Climate Action

Nagaland State Painting Competition on Climate Action was organized on April 2021 under the theme “Climate Action” in reference to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal no.- 13. The painting competition was open at the National level for professional artists. All entries were submitted to NSCCC through the postal service. The aim of the painting competition was to create awareness of climate change and to showcase the artistic paintings depicting the current scenario of climate change and the mitigation measures adopted to combat climate change.

Intellectual Property Rights

PIC participated in the Short term programme (online) on Intellectual property rights conducted by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Gauhati University, Guwahati during 1st -7th February 2021, where Dr Nesatalu Hiese, Scientist D, NASTEC was the resources person and presented a topic on GI and its Opportunities.

PIC conducted two days workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights” in collaboration with Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung both offline and online sessions for the lectures and students during 28th -29th January 2021. There were five technical sessions that cover the topic like “IPR and its components: Overview of IPR”, “Geographical Indication- Opportunities and Challenges”, “Patent law and Copyright and its drafting”, “How to write an Indian Patent” etc . by resource persons from various institutes

State Level Mathematics Model Competition organized for secondary level students through online model

To create an interest on mathematics among high school student and to pursue mathematics as a carrier. Creation of scientific temper and application of mathematics in everyday life. It is also done with the view to overcome the general student mentality that student of north east especially in Nagaland perceive mathematics as a boring and most difficult subject.

2nd edition of Climate Change Awareness Programme for Students (C- CAPS)

The 2nd edition of the Climate Change Awareness Programme for Students (C- CAPS) was held at Northfield, Kohima on the 7th of March, 2020. The aim of the programme was to sensitize the school students on climate change. Various hands on activities were incorporated in the programme that included audio visual screening, action based learning activities, group presentation, group activities and discussion.
