One Day Capacity Building and Awareness Campaign on Climate Change Issues in Manipur

The programme was formally launched at Khoupum, Noney District on March 26, 2021 at Khoupum Higher Secondary, Khoupum. The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC), Takyelpat, Imphal and Namkaolong Farmer’s Development Society, Khoupum, Noney District. Thirty participants comprising of farmers, women, panchayat members, govt. officials and students. Dr. L. Sanjoy Meitei, Lecturer, D.M. College of Science, Imphal delivered a lecture on Climate Change Issues in Manipur and Shri N. Shyamkishore Singh of Science Teachers Forum Manipur made a demonstration of the KIT “Learning by Doing” which contained a set of 14 hands on activities based on Climate Change and Global Warming. A set of 6 posters, a CD containing Power Point Presentations on various issues of Climate Change & Global Warming and an activity booklet were also distributed to the participants for further dissemination of the programme to their respective places.

One day workshop on Intellectual Property Right (IPR)

One day workshop was organised on 23rd March 2021 by Patent Information Centre (PIC), Manipur Science & Technology Council, Imphal in association with IPR Cell-NEILIT, Imphal. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness about IPRs among the students and faculties of the institute. Dr. R.K. Pritamjit Singh, In-charge PIC-Manipur and Scientific Officer, MASTEC highlighted different forms of IPR and importance during the workshop. About 100 participants including teachers and students of the institute attended the workshop.

A One-day Awareness Workshop on COVID-19 Pandemic was held at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur District, Manipur. in collaboration with Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) on December 28, 2020. Prof. N. Mohilal Meetei, Head, Department of Zoology & Botany, Manipur University took part in the programme as Resource Person. Dr. L. Dinachandra Singh, Director, MASTEC was the Chief Guest of the function .

Release of Experimental Kit 2021-03-22 An Experimental Kit in the form of a resource material for Learning by Doing developed by N Shyamkishore Singh, Science Teacher at St. George School, Imphal East, Play way Activities compiled by Dr. Ch. India Devi, Lecturer in Chemistry at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal, Posters, and a Compact Disk containing Power Point Presentations on different issues related to “Climate Change” supported by Vigyan Prasar, DST, GoI, Noida, were released by the Director, MASTEC on March 22, 2021.
Declamation Contest 2021-03-21 The Declamation Contest for school students reading in Class IX-XII was held on March 21-22, 2021 at the Training Hall of MASTEC. Altogether 54 (fifty-four) students from different schools registered for the contest out of which 36 students participated in the contest.
Students' Essay Writing Competition 2021-03-21 The Essay Writing competitions were organized for two categories Junior Category (School students reading in Class XI-XII) & Senior Category (College students reading in TDC) on March 21, 2021 on the theme “COVID-19”.

Mapping of S&T Needs in the State. 2020-05-04 As part of the S&T Mapping project & as advised by DST, GoI, the Council took part in contributing some S&T inputs in the COVID-19 management to stop spread of the pandemic disease in the state. The Council, in association with the North East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST), CSIR, Imphal Unit developed an Alcohol based Herbal Hand Sanitizer and distributed to members of various communities in the state including the Hon’ble CM, Manipur, S&T Minister’s Secretariat, Office of Commissioner (S&T), Govt. of Manipur, Dy. Secretary (S&T), Govt. of Manipur, Staffs at S&T Section Officer’s Office at Secretariat, Director, DST, Govt. of Manipur & his staff, Manipur Science Centre, Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre, IT, media workers (print & electronic), Home for Blind, some interested individuals etc. In addition, the sanitizers were distributed to all the employees working at the Council. Altogether, 30 litres (30,000 ml.) of the MASTEC-CSIR, NEIST prepared hand sanitizers, have been distributed to different sections of the community.
Lecture series on Earthquake. 2020-03-03 As a follow up activity of the State Level Awareness Programme on Natural Disaster with emphasis on Earthquake held at Imphal (February 25-26, 2020), a week-long lecture series on Earthquake were organised in different schools in rural areas covering five districts namely Imphal West, Bishnupur, Chandel, Kakching and Thoubal districts in the month of March 2020. During the lecture programme, resource persons delivered lectures on earthquake and interacted with the students and teachers on dos and donts during and after an earthquake.
State Level Awareness Programme on Natural Disaster with emphasis on Earthquake. 2020-02-25 The State Level Awareness Programme on Natural Disaster with emphasis on Earthquake was held during February 25-26, 2020 at MASTEC’s Training Hall at Takyelpat, Imphal. Prof. J.R. Kayal, Former DDG, Geological Survey of India and Dr. Santanu Baruah, Scientist, NEIST, CSIR, Jorhat were the external resource persons delivering lectures on various issues on earthquake and interacted with the participants. Dr. Th. Somchand Singh of Civil Engineering Department, Manipur Institute of Technology, Imphal and Dr. Manichandra S., Seismologist of Earth Sciences Department, Manipur University were the local resource persons of the awareness programme.
