National Science Day Celebration,2021

The celebration of NSD was organisedat All Saints Cathedaral Hall on the 2nd March,2021. Although there are some restriction from the Government on the number of participants and to follow all SOPs of the Health Department, the celebration was held successfully. An exhibition was organised in which the innovators, traditional health practitioners, Scientist from Bio Resource Development Centre, Mentors from Innovation Hub, Entrepreneurs displayed their works in consonance with the theme of NSD,2021. The Lecture by Shri. R. Chatterjee, teacher and science communicator who is an awardee of NASI in 2009 and Open Quiz competition were conducted for students participants. As part of the celebration, the awards for meritorious students who scored the highest marks in Science & Mathematics were given to recognize and motivate the students. Altogether about 150 participants attended the Celebration in conforming with the SOPs.

National Children's Science Congress,2020

The Children's Science Congress was organised in the state of Meghalaya in a subdued manner through online mode because of the COVID 19 Pandemic. The programme was advertised in the All India Radio FM Jongphi 103.6 and Red FM93.5. The programme information were posted in the website of the Council. 8 projects registered in the portal and 6 projects presented their projects online.

National Science Day celebration 2020

The National Science Day was organized on the 27th and 28th February,2020 in collaboration with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya. As part of the Celebration, Tequip III sponsored Hackathon 2020 was also organized side by side. During the event Scientific Models pertaining to S & T needs of the states were displayed as part of the Hackathon 2020 (7 Projects), AI and Robotics and projects (13 Projects) supported from stated under the sponsored project Schemes (15 projects). Quiz competition, Stall and Laboratory visit by schools students and filed visit by Eco Clubs to Mawphlang Sacred Forest and Ever Living Museum at Mawshbuit was also part of the celebration.

National Mathematics Day Celebration 2019

"The celebration was organised in the form of a a series of one day Workshop on teaching of Mathematics for the Lower & Upper Primary School Teachers of Meghalaya in the District Headquarters. These Workshop were organised to enhanced and create the strong foundation of Mathematics in the minds of the school children through these trained teachers. Importance of Mathematics in everyday life's was also conducted. The prime focus in these workshops was imparting the knowledge on teaching Mathematics through Kits to the Lower & Upper Primary level developed by the Department of Educational Kits (DEK), NCERT, New Delhi as well as using these kits to improve the teaching learning outcomes. 14th November, 2019 in DRDA Hall, Williamnagar , East Garo Hills District (60 participants) , 15th November,2019 in Tura (60 participants), 4th December, 2019 in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills District , 6th December, 2019 in Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi ((60 participants), 11th December, 2019 in West Khasi Hills District, and on 19th December, 2019 in East Khasi Hills District (30 participants). As part of the Culmination of the Celebration, a 3-days Orientation Programme of the State Level Resource Persons for Free Crash Tuition on Mathematics and Science for the Candidates of Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2020 was organised from 17th - 19th December, 2019 in Shillong College, Shillong. The free crash tuition on Mathematics was conducted for under privileged children who could not afford to avail a private tuition as well as for the weaker students of these core subjects. "

Meghalaya Wildlife Photography Competition - Wildlife Week Celebration

The State Council of Science, Technology & Environment,Meghalaya collaborated with the Zoology Department, St. Anthony's College, Shillong in organising the Meghalaya Wildlife Photography Competition as part of the Wildlife Week Celebration. 71 participants took part in the competition. Prizes were awarded to the following winners Shri Ialamphang Lyngdoh, Dr. Henry Benson Nongrum and Shri Samrat Senggpta respectively.

World Environment Day Celebration

The World Environment Day (5 June) is being celebrated by the State Council at the local levels by the School Eco clubs, whereby cleaning drive, tree plantation, maintenance of school nursery, lectures and competitions were organised by them.
