National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. National Science day was celebrated at KSCST on 2nd March 2021 in online platform. Guest lectures were provided and winners of various science competitions were awarded with prizes. Around 1000 students participated in this event.

44th Series of SPP was started in October 2020. Under the 44th series of SPP, the Council had invited project proposals from final year students of B.E., M.Tech, M.Sc, & M.B.A. across the State. A total of 4,627 project proposals received from more than 160 institutions across the state. Further, the project evaluations will be held during March, 2021 by experts drawn from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) and Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) and many more.

"Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) Cell at KSCST is established to study the needs of the people and provide sustainable and simple solutions through innovation and implementation pertinent to Rainwater Harvesting and Ground water recharge. Since November 2005 RWH Cell has provided technical support for planning rainwater harvesting systems in over 300 institutions (Public and private sector, Multinationals and Educational Institutions) in Karnataka and other states. Several thousand visitors have personally visited KSCST and availed the benefit and technical knowledge on RWH, water conservation and ground water recharge. In this regard an online Training Program on Rain water Harvesting Structures was conducted on 26th August 2020. A total of 67 participants attended this training program who were engineers, plumbers and researchers. "

In honor of Sir. C. V. Ramans invention popularly called as Raman Effect, KSCST celebrated National Science Day 2020 on the theme Women in Science. As a part of Celebrations of National Science Day, On-the-spot painting competition and Essay writing competition was organised for BBMP and Government High School students on 8th February 2020. KSCST celebrated National Science Day 2019 on 3rd March 2020 at J. N. Tata Auditorium, IISc, Bengaluru. More than 800 higher primary and high school students participated in the programme.

Vijnana Darshana programme provides an opportunity for the students to go on a science tour to leading R & D institutions in Bengaluru to spur the scientific interest among students. A compendium of IDH technologies was released during the symposium authored by PIs of IDH-Hampi programme.

On 24th December 2019 KSCST celebrated National Mathematics Day 2019 at Prof. Satish Dhawan auditorium, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. Around 300 BBMP high school children participated in the programme. Various activities such as model making, technical lectures, mathematical toy exhibition were organised. NMD 2019 was also celebrated in all the 21 E-learning centres across the state.

Energy Efficient Buildings Workshop on low carbon materials and building systems was organised for six day during August 2019 to provide a platform for information dissemination and exchange, discussions and debates on research and sustainable practice in the field of earthen structures, building materials and techniques, climate responsive architecture, building-comfort, energy in buildings, climate-change mitigation and emission reduction. A program was exclusively organised for Karnataka Nirmithi Kendra (KARNIK) engineers during February, 2020 at Challakere campus of IISc to disseminate the theses technologies across Karnataka

KSCST sanctioned 798 projects out of 3800 projects proposals received including projects sanctioned under bio fuel category and further awarded 50 student projects as Best project of the year. 40 projects have been identified for further development including prototype and commercialization. KSCST intends to call for proposal from the guides of best projects for further financial support for possible prototype development, fine tuning and commercialization through Atal incubation centres, SEED program of DST-GoI and KSCST project grants.

"Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Planning, Programme Monitoring & Statistics Department on 29-04-2019 at Vikasa Soudha advised to adopt geospatial technologies preparation of action plan. This meet was attended by Director of planning and statistics, Executive Secretary of Karnataka State council for Science and Technology, Consultant KSRSAC, CPOs of all districts and NRDMS officials. As advised, KSCST & KSRSAC organised district and taluk level workshop to guide and assist district line departments in preparation of GIS action plan. Conducted District and Taluk level workshops on Use of Geospatial Technologies for Preparation of Action Plan to senior level officers of line departments during June, July, August and September, 2019 (Over 250 workshops in a span of four months). Also published report and maps on district action plan."

Teachers Enrichment Programme is a yearlong programme with 15 days of contacting sessions organised for Government of Higher Primary school teachers teaching science and mathematics at Magadi taluk, Ramanagara district and Malavalli taluk, Mandya district. 45 teachers from Magadi taluk and 40 teachers from Malavalli taluk has been benefitted with this programme. Teachers training workshop on science for tribal region of Karnataka organised in Shimoga from 25th to 28th June 2019 and at Mysuru on 5th & 6th December 2019.

Developed 51 kitchen gardens (6m x 6m) in Chamarajanagar district in association with KVK of Chamarajanagar district to improve livelihood opportunities and decrease malnutrition in tribal dominated areas. Farmers were provided with vegetable seed kits and material to protect the garden along with organic fertilizer. 20 different varieties of vegetables were grown in kitchen gardens with an additional income of Rs.200/week to each farmer.

"Field testing of Hybrid Ultra-Capacitors (HUC) lighting kits across India Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru developed the HUC technology to store energy. About 1016 units of 5W capacity and 10 units of 10W capacity home lighting kits have been deployed across 10 states to field test its performance under varying climatic conditions. M/s Mesha Energy Solutions private limited is involved in the manufacture and development of these units. The industry partner patenting the process for turning traditional lead acid batteries into high performance with benefits such as: Quick charging/ better charge acceptance Longer cyclic life for the product Better performance across different load conditions HUC technology is being optimized for enhanced performance and lower costs."
